Dr. Aimee Sheree A. Barrion is a Professor  8 at the Institute of Human Nutrition and Food, College of Human Ecology University  of the Philippines Los Baños. She was assigned as the Division Head of the Food Management Administrative Division of the Institute from 2001-2002 and in 2011-2013. She was appointed as the Associate Dean of the College of Human Ecology (CHE) from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Barrion became the Director of the Institute of Human Nutrition and Food, CHE in 2021 till present.

 

She obtained her undergraduate and master’s degrees in nutrition from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She received her PhD in Food Science at the same university in 2011. She took short courses on Food Safety at the University of Jakarta (SEAMEO) in 2005 and the Wageningen University and Research in 2018.

 

Dr. Barrion co-developed a number of manuals in food and nutrition and has contributed several scholarly articles both indexed and non-indexed. In 2017 and 2020, she was awarded the title of “UP Scientist I”. Her research interests were in the fields of food, nutrition, and health. Because of her experience in research, she served as the editor -in-chief of the Journal of Human Ecology from 2014 to 2018 and one of the associate editors of the Journal of Nutritionist-Dietitians Association of the Philippines from 2018 till present. She also has presented several papers in various local and international scientific fora  

 

In terms of extension, Dr. Barrion has been engaged regularly in trainings and seminars on foodservice food safety and foodservice management.
