FACT: Eating breakfast can promote weight management.
Eating breakfast kick-starts metabolism, while skipping breakfast can make you feel overly hungry and tired which may result in excessive eating and inactivity. This in turn can lead to weight gain.
FACT: Breakfast is good for your health and performance.
Breakfast “breaks the fast”. Breakfast can help meet the nutrient requirements for the day, uplift mood, better cognitive performance (focus and attention) and be energized to be physically active.
MYTH: Pan de sal in the mornings counts as a good breakfast.
Pandesal alone is not enough because it only provides carbohydrates. A nutritious breakfast is one that follows the Pinggang Pinoy(R) with Go, Grow and Glow food.
MYTH: Healthy breakfast is time-consuming.
There are nutritious easy-to-prepare breakfast. Examples are vegetable salad, fruit slices, or egg and vegetable sandwich. There are also are grab-and-go breakfast choices like ready-to-drink milk, cereal bars and fresh fruit slices.
